In Europe, the GSM 8520 is selling like hotcakes – almost every Austrian carrier has the little critter on offer. In the USA, the GSM radio turned out to be problematic…which is why RIM announced the 8530.

Essentially, this QVGA-screened beast is a 8520 with a CDMA radio instead of a GSM one. It can now be had at Sprint’s for a somewhat steep 50$, which I expect to drop in the not-so-far future:
