BlackBerry Torch 9800 has a BOM of 171$

We have heard quite a bit on the BlackBerry Torch 9800 in the past – so far, we were not told how much such a device costs to build.

The latest on the Torch reads as following:

Research in Motion’s new BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone carries a Bill of Materials (BOM) of US$171.05, according to a dissection and cost model breakdown conducted by the Teardown Analysis service at market research firm iSuppli.

Even though I am not sure how significant this data is (given the difficulties with negotiations), it nevertheless is interesting to know…
